Detailed Information

Check swimming with the famous Bahamian pigs off your bucket list. These pigs will swim out to greet you as soon as they see you coming. They expect food, so be sure to bring them a snack! Almost every boat excursion/tour company on the island offers trips to Pig Island.
Pig Tips
• Don’t feed the pigs beer, bread or junk food. They are pigs, not grown men!
• Their eyesight isn’t the best so be careful when taking selfies. They might just eat your GoPro!
• Feeding them hotdogs? Really? That’s just wrong. Don’t you know what’s in those things?
• The pigs come out to meet you because they trust you, don’t try to tease or ride them. They are still wild animals and can be unpredictable!
• Bring them a bottle of fresh water. It can get dry out there and water may be scarce.
• Do not put the food you bring into the sand. Ingesting sand is dangerous for the pigs. Feed them in the water.

Good food to bring: just about anything except for the foods listed below
Bad foods: Meat, raw potatoes, asparagus, broccoli, onions, raw celery, raw parsnips, banana peels and citrus fruit
