Visit the site commemorating Pompey, an enslaved man who led a slave rebellion in 1829. This small rebellion is considered the first substantial victory for slave resisters and a precursor to emancipation in the Bahamas. On the site is also the ruins of the Steventon Jail and a gazebo overlooking the sea. A great place to learn more of the island’s history while taking in its fantastic beauty.
